re homophones- look at the little flag next to the setter. Try saying the words in their accent. If its a match, you're looking at a homophone. Same goes for culturally specific answers- the flag is a clue.

I think they are homophones (sound alike) not homonym (same spelling). A very good grid. 'One eye' is a great theme for a set! Some great overlaps too.
