Very tricky, but an excellent grid.

I solved the grid but didn't get the Sound of Music clue as cotton gloves is never synonymous with warm woollen mittens!

and there was me looking for things that vibrate...

cotton is not wool and gloves are not mittens and that clue was therefore not a synonym!

Synonyms are not necessarily identical. By definition, words that mean the same, or nearly the same thing. Which is why if you visit a good thesaurus, such as Thesaurus.com, woollen will return cotton as similar, and mittens return gloves.

still think cotton / woollen an issue - the 3 other clues work really well. I got the connection thanks to whiskers on kittens but nearly discounted it because thought... no, it's COTTON gloves.

I'm with pedantry - A synonym is "a word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word or phrase in the same language." I don't believe that 'cotton' is enough like 'woollen' to use in this case. Would have done better to have used 'knitted' instead. Apart from that gaff, it was a nice grid. :-)
