Fun! I agree that Patio could be stronger. Maybe if the words you chose all start with the same, different letter to begin with? At any rate, I did find the connection so it must not have been too awful.

Arguably the 7 make it easier to spot the group's existence, although I have to admit I hadn't realised there were quite so many. When I built the group, patio was the inspiration shortly followed by pear: I was then looking for words where the pronunciation changes. Maybe sticking to 'P's would be fairer.... but then you lose the washer herring. Sigh.

Liked the "mind" line.

Some nice overlaps there. I think the "replace the first letter" sort of connections are really only fair if the new words have a connection of their own. So if Ratio, Right, Rasher and Rear were all (say) the names of Terry Pratchett characters it would be a lot more satisfying.
