Truly excellent cryptic grid. Clues and crossovers really worked. I rated medium, but enough there to create a challenge while still being very solvable. I nearly fell for your poisson-rouge on the Castle Building until I sussed you out! 5*

Got all the connections but couldn't for the life of me get them into fours. Brilliant red herrings and a lot of thought gone into this. Enjoyed it a lot.

I think the "castle building" clue is a bit unfairly put: the bailey isn't a building, it's a whole enclosed area of the castle.
