These are written like crossword hints, not OC clues. If you need three question marks and they're not in one category, you're not doing it right.

Truly excellent cryptic grid. Clues and crossovers really worked. I rated medium, but enough there to create a challenge while still being very solvable. I nearly fell for your poisson-rouge on the Castle Building until I sussed you out! 5*

Got all the connections but couldn't for the life of me get them into fours. Brilliant red herrings and a lot of thought gone into this. Enjoyed it a lot.

I think the "castle building" clue is a bit unfairly put: the bailey isn't a building, it's a whole enclosed area of the castle.
