I know "peeps" is sometimes used as short for people, but I don't think you'd ever use the singular "peep" to mean a person. Doesn't sound right to me anyway.

Peep? I guess it's slang but I've never heard it for person. Peeps I've heard for people as it shortens the sound, but peep isn't a phoneme in person so it doesn't really work.
Also Milligan poet is an odd way to put it. Why not just Milligan seeing as Spike Milligan is his name? (And he wasn't just a poet, he was best known as a comedian).
