A nice grid, with a few flaws (see below).
I got the marsupials immediately, and then had a lot of fun trying to group the remaining animals together. There were so many possible options! Carnivores? No. Domesticated animals? No. Animals used in English idioms? No. Animals found on specific continents? No. It was fun exploring all these possibilities in a grid with a clear unifying theme.
The accepted answers were a let-down, though. Only one of the answers I typed in were accepted, although at least three of them were valid (and the fourth as well, I would argue).
"Colour" was not accepted for the animals that can be grouped with different colours. I am guessing this is because you used only the American spelling of the word for your linking terms, instead of both. A really unfortunate oversight, especially for a website based on a British game show.
Likewise, "year" was not accepted for the animals in the Chinese Zodiac, although it was definitely the right answer ("Year of the Horse", etc.).
For the last group, I typed "martial arts", but sadly this was not accepted. To be fair, I wasn't thinking of Kung Fu Panda as the overall connection, but rather a more general connection with martial arts (crane style, monkey style, Kung Fu Panda and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), so I'm not sure if this is a fair criticism of your grid. I do like my solution better than yours, but that's neither here nor there!
Anyway, despite these issues, I had fun. Thanks!

I don't usually like grids that are all one thing but this worked. I like that the categories differed in style. Wasn't keen on canary- it fits but awkwardly, overall a good grid!

Fun idea, but one or two key weaknesses.
The color group is the one I have the most trouble with. If your connection is going to be that something can be added to the animals' names to form a common phrase, then it should be the same addition for all of them. It's especially confusing because a couple of them could be paired with multiple colors, and "pink" works for two of them, but not the other two (pink or black panther, pink or white elephant). I'm also not sure "yellow canary" is a phrase.
