Sometimes I invent new formats, Massivenapa- this was an idea based on giving clues to the grid on the grid, as I do sometimes add an easier one. It's a bit short sighted to call it "not proper"?- just different. God help us if everything was exactly the same, all the time. I personally would be bored to tears. It had crossovers, it had 4 groups- you only needed to do half the work- not as fiendish as most of mine (the usual complaint). no pleasing some people!

Good ideas - I know its difficult to differentiate the 4 groups sometimes.Some of mine (under a different name) that have been 'different' have had mixed reviews although you always applaud something new - so carry on regardless.

I like where this is going, but I don't think it's quite finish *enough.* I saw the two sets with 'pie' right away, and just banged on squares until I hit the right combo for one of the two lines. Thing is, once I had that set I also had its other half -- and then although the other two were nothing I had any knowledge of, I was able to spot the four first names immediately, and (ha) Tit's your uncle. In other words: cracking one group gave the other three right away, which made it less fun. Still, very clever. Please try more in this vein!

Thanks Goneril- I love that you're always up for a proper game, the more fiendish the better! I do some easier ones sometimes for the sake of variety; some formats lend themselves to different levels of challenge. Thanks as always for your comment x
