Good. Cover was the least pleasing clue. But I enjoyed it

good grid- had crossovers and unique solution as far as I could tell- I struggled, as usual, with first names- I can rarely make the leap to the associated surname- one thing is I think NFL has been done to death but Trey was novel and threw me- very good. On the whole, great, a brilliant first effort and well done for giving it a go yourself!

Excellent for a first grid!
I would echo the comments Lorna said below. Trey was new to me (nice to learn something).
It’s fine to include them, but the American football thing has been done a lot on here - almost as much as Cluedo!
