I think that opposite pairings are good enough for puzzgrid. To put it another way, if the clue is gettable, then its only a problem for the super- pedantic. If you get the gist, salt leads easily to pepper, etc. They're clues to a game- we're not trying to re-write the dictionary! ;)

We didn't get pepper as an antonym of salt. Maybe you could use dog and cat as antonyms as suggested by Violet Elizabeth Bott!
