I really don't like these gimmicky ones at all - so much so that I completed it so I could make this comment. What's wrong with the original format? I'd rather folks spent their time coming up with groups that had lots of crossovers and red herrings than this sort of toot. Once you spot the vowels are missing (i.e. immediately) it's rather simple to do the groups, so not a medium IMO

Malcolm, some folks find that the crossovers and red herrings all get a bit "samey", time after time. I think it's great that new and varied formats are happening all the time. The original format gets tired and boring. If you don't like a grid, you don't have to complete it just so that you can bitch about it. Just move on and find one that you like.

Or maybe you could submit a grid of your own...

Malcolm I made one of these with crossovers and people complained bout the flse group ;-) unfortunately couldn't find it last night. Youll have to search my-back catslogue yourself. I agree, lack of crossovers is a valid criticism ! But gimmicky grids are definitely popular, and not compulsory

I think when the site is up to 49,000+ grids, fair play to anyone who posts new grids. Thank you. It’s what keeps the site going. Variety is the spice of life and the different formats make it more interesting. If you see one and you don’t like it, move on; there are plenty of others to choose from.

Bit late to the party here but I loved it too. I’ve been doing a LOT of these recently and really do appreciate a different format and the effort everyone puts in to putting grids up. In fact if I could filter to find the different formats I would.
