Thanks WV. I think you must have your answers set up very loosely or there’s a glitch. I didn’t know the s line, only by default, so I put salt but it still accepted it.

Thanks, Fam. I checked everything, and the settings were correct. It may be an oddity of these grids because the same thing happens on the other lines. It's a mystery.

Fam, if it accept salt, it will accept salamander, stromboli etc, as the grid setter has it set up accept s,sa, etc.. so all that is needed is the first letter. Tough why you entered salt is a mystery

St John, no mystery, I am an idiot. I didn’t figure the second clue and I didn’t know the third, so I just ventured salt as a different flavour to sweet.

Yes, St John, 'Kil' was tricky. I looked for initials, abbreviations, etc, and found an obscure Dutch word, and was thrilled; if I use this letter sequence again, and I do, God help me!
