[[SPOILER ALERT!!!]]
Fred Astaire MIGHT have done his bit in those things, but that's just about as vague as it could possibly be. What was his bit? What happened? Where did you dig up such an obscure connection from? Why am I asking silly questions??? Medium??? :D

Yes you’re right. Saying Fred Astaire was in those productions is not enough. I humbly apologise.
The real mystery though is why the frick anyone puts the effort in to make these things given the state of some of the comments.

But to keep you sweet, if that is remotely possible…
In The Towering Inferno Fred played a con-man.
In Daddy Long Legs he played an American millionaire holidaying in France.
In Carefree, he’s a psychiatrist and in Blue Skies he, rather weirdly, plays a dancing sensation.
I hope that your life is now back on an even keel, Dutch.

Great grid, and I got the Fred Astaire connections no problem; it wasn’t obscure at all. I think some people just can’t stand it when they get a subject they don’t know much about (like me with any grids including Pokémon characters😁).

Thanks Jane. I’ve no problem with constructive criticism or even non-constructive if it’s valid, but getting stick from the intellectually vacuous, who doesn’t seem to post anything of their own, is a bit tiresome.

Great grid. Fred Astaire group and attendant red herring no problem - pay no attention. 5 stars and my thanks for taking the trouble.

Cheers Barry. I don’t think the grid is that good but not for the reason D&W gave.

Please let me assure you that I am neither intellectually vacuous, nor do I appreciate others being told not to pay attention to me. You categorised that grid as "medium". It might have been medium for you, but not everyone has the ability to spot weird stuff like that. I shall avoid your grids like the plague in future, if only to avoid being treated like a thicko. Categorise your grids better next time.

DutchAndWorried, Fred Astaire films really aren’t “obscure” or “weird”. I thought it was a pretty straightforward connection. Just because you don’t know about something doesn’t mean the grid is bad; if you’re going to have a hissy fit every time you don’t get an answer, maybe this game isn’t for you?

You do know that categorisations change depending upon how others have found it, don’t you Dutch? The setter makes a guess; the solvers determine where it goes from there. Perhaps if you posted one or two of your own this would become clear?

Good red herrings. Thanks.
BTW, I got the Fred Astaire connection (for Dutch and Worried)

I knew the Fred Astaire films, I don't think that's obscure, but never heard of a cannon as a Monopoly token, just got lucky.
(2 years, 10 months ago)
BinDipper
Neither had I Pam but apparently it was one of the original 6 pieces, retired in 1946 after 11 years service - Monopoly’s first ever retiree.

Entertaining as always, BD, thanks. Once I’d decided that Knob couldn’t possibly be a Fred Astaire film I was well set...😎

I think that was put to Ginger, Roc, but she declined.
