Would have been good, but the one group based around characters from a particular sketch from a particular comedy show that loads of people won't have heard of lets it down badly.

Oh, and being slightly pedantic, Reed was not Glam. Didn't matter for the answers, but still...

I thought that group might be too obscure, but a) it's reasonably well known in the US, and I'm guessing that's their most famous sketch, b) I've seen groups from Monty Python sketches so there's some precedent, and c) the names are silly enough that I figure people can probably lump them together even if they don't know the connection.

Fair enough on Lou Reed - I was trying to keep it to solo artists but had trouble coming up with a non-obscure one. I switched him out for Marc Bolan.
