Another vote for "solfa" not being accepted - but that's cool, I know it can't accept all the possible answers and I know I got it right :) Nice one.

Too many mistakes unfortunately - Ray, So are not on the solfege scale. Why is not how Y is pronounced. I didn't know pen is a female swan - learnt something new! Thanks anyway

is it solfage or is it that 'the sound of music' tune
(5 years, 4 months ago)

Britshnerd
Could've got 10 out of 10 if do re mi was accepted as they are not notes on the musical scales.
(5 years, 3 months ago)

Drew
It should be added that ray is the phonetic pronunciation rather than the real spelling. Also the solfege thing. Otherwise a fun board!
(5 years, 2 months ago)

beeman
It's sol, not so. and night nurse is not such a big phrase.

(5 years, 2 months ago)

Got derailed by the musical notes that were spelled incorrectly. If "misspelled musical notes" was the theme, then Far would be better than La.

(4 years, 6 months ago)

I liked it. Clever categories. My only complaint would be that in the do-re-mi category everything is spelled the 'normal' way except ray, which makes the group incoherent. But I liked the red herrings of female animals & pronouns

(3 years, 11 months ago)

I found it OK. Still curious about how other commenters pronounce the name of the letter Y if not the same as "why".
(3 years, 5 months ago)

JD
Only answer; notes on a musical scale? (sound like - not true spelling)

Tonic sol-fa/solfa/solfege need to be answers:

The solfege syllables for the ascending chromatic scale are Do- Di- Re- Ri- Mi- Fa- Fi- Sol- Si- La- Li- Ti- Do

The solfege syllables for the descending chromatic scale are Do- Ti- Te- La- Le- Sol- Se- Fa- Mi- Me- Re- Ra- Do

Enjoyed your wall nevertheless, sorry but as a musician . . . . .
(3 years, 4 months ago)

Ian Sewell
Very easy but pleasant puzzle. Thanks.
(3 years, 3 months ago)

Manolis
Two of the connections are wrong. La is a note, but Me and Ray are homophones for notes (Mi, Re). It should be either all notes, or all homophones. And night before nurse is not a prefix, just a word that goes together with nurse. But night before mare creates indeed a new word.
(3 years, 3 months ago)

Me
Very good and enjoyable!
If I could give some feedback, I think "solfege" should be considered a correct answer for the musical notes.
(3 years, 3 months ago)

BritStuff
Did someone say tonic sol-fa? Otherwise clever, I stared at it for forty seconds and couldn't make anything work?
(2 years, 4 months ago)

OG
In the musical notes, it should be "sol" instead of "so" and "re" instead of "ray." Might could have worked if you related it to the Sound of Music song but then "Doe" would have to go with it since the line is "Doe, a deer, a female deer."
(2 years, 1 month ago)

me
Tonic sol-fa is the official term for the musical notes, otherwise good.
